Vex 6: Complete Guide to Every Act, Mechanic, and Secret
What Is Vex 6?
Vex 6 is the latest installment in the legendary Vex platformer series. You control a stickman through increasingly challenging obstacle courses filled with spikes, moving platforms, water sections, zip lines, and more. With 60+ acts across multiple worlds, it's one of the most content-rich browser games available.
The Vex series has been a staple of browser gaming for years, and Vex 6 is widely considered the best entry yet — it takes everything that made the previous games great and adds new mechanics, better level design, and more polish.
All Mechanics Explained
Running & Jumping
The basics. Use arrow keys to run and up to jump. Vex 6's jump has a specific height and arc — knowing exactly how far you can jump is crucial for later acts.
Wall Climbing
Jump toward a wall and press into it to cling. Then jump again to launch off. You can climb any wall by alternating between two walls or by reaching the top. Wall climbing is essential from Act 1.
Swimming
New to Vex 6! Certain sections are underwater. Press up to swim toward the surface and navigate underwater obstacles. Swimming sections add a whole new dimension to the gameplay — the physics feel completely different underwater.
Zip Lines
Jump onto zip lines to ride them across gaps. You can jump off at any point by pressing the jump button. Timing your dismount is often the challenge.
Moving Platforms
Platforms that move on set paths. Some are timed, some are triggered. Learn to predict their patterns and time your jumps accordingly.
Spike Sections
Vex 6's spikes are instant death. They appear on walls, floors, ceilings, and moving objects. The key is recognizing safe zones between spike formations.
Act-by-Act Tips
Acts 1-10: The Fundamentals
These early acts teach you the basics. Don't rush them — use this time to really understand the movement physics. The jump height, wall climb speed, and slide distance you learn here will carry you through the entire game.
Acts 11-20: Combining Mechanics
Now the game starts mixing mechanics. You'll need to wall-jump into a slide, swim into a wall-climb, and chain multiple moves together. Focus on smooth transitions between different movement types.
Acts 21-30: Precision Required
This is where Vex 6 gets serious. Smaller platforms, faster-moving obstacles, and tighter timing windows. If you're struggling, slow down and plan your route before executing.
Acts 31+: Master Class
The final acts are the ultimate test. Everything you've learned comes together in complex sequences that require near-perfect execution. Break hard sections into smaller parts and practice each part individually.
Star Collection (Achievements)
Each act has up to 3 stars you can earn:
- Star 1: Complete the act (always earned on completion)
- Star 2: Complete under a certain time limit
- Star 3: Find and collect the hidden star within the act
Hidden stars are usually in hard-to-reach locations that require creative movement. Look for suspicious gaps in walls, platforms that seem to lead nowhere, and areas that look purely decorative — they often hide a star.
Vex 6 vs Previous Vex Games
- Vex 6 vs Vex 5: Vex 6 adds swimming mechanics, more acts, and better visual polish. If you enjoyed Vex 5, Vex 6 is strictly an upgrade.
- Vex 6 vs Vex 4: Much more content and variety. Vex 4 was where the series found its identity, and Vex 6 perfects it.
- Vex 6 vs OvO: Different approaches to the same genre. Vex 6 has more variety (swimming, zip lines), OvO has deeper core movement. Play both.
Common Problems & Solutions
- "I keep hitting spikes on wall jumps" — You're probably climbing too high before jumping. Launch off the wall earlier, before you reach spike height.
- "Swimming sections are impossible" — Tap the up key rather than holding it. Small, frequent taps give you much more control than holding the button down.
- "I can't find the hidden star" — Look for visual inconsistencies: a wall that's a slightly different color, a gap that seems decorative, or a platform chain that goes in a direction away from the exit.
- "The game runs slowly" — Close other tabs, enable hardware acceleration, and try fullscreen mode. Vex 6 is well-optimized but still benefits from available resources.
